What is the nature of heart disease in New Zealand

Trent grew up in Auckland and after graduating in science and engineering, spent 30 years as an international businessman starting up and building businesses in six different countries: he is currently a business and management consultant.

He has four grown children living in New Zealand and Canada, one of whom is a doctor and a specialist in Cardiac Anaesthesiology and has two grandchildren in Canada.

In 1970 Trent was a founding member of Youthline Otago and its first Executive Director. As a social impact warrior, he has a passion for helping the vulnerable in our community, particularly in the area of healthcare and disability.

In July 2019 he founded Heartbeats, a community-based peer to peer heart event survivors support group, which has grown to over 130 ‘members’ and three ‘chapters’ across the North Shore and West Auckland, in just 12 months.

The interest in Heartbeats and its purpose is so strong that there are plans to start Heartbeats groups in Warkworth and Central Auckland by May next year.
